Why Bell's Shots Didn't Hurt

From: Me
To: Whoever didn't feel disgusted after hearing the Sean Bell Verdict

I'm infuriated, frustrated, and disappointed. And I'm tired of hearing you tell me that things have changed. If things have really changed, WHY isn't EVERYONE (not just some people) feeling the same way as I am right now about the Sean Bell Verdict. After years of discussions on race and race relations, it baffles me that you STILL do not understand why the Bell verdict would get underneath my skin. I'm sitting here wondering why we don't see eye to eye and why we did not come together to mourn with Sean Bell's fiancée, Nicole. This is not brain surgery. Think about it. This was a man. A father. A fiancée who was to be married the NEXT DAY. This man was unarmed and leaving his bachelor party only to be shot down by the police. But he wasn't shot once. Not even twice. Not ten times, but FIFTY! FIFTY TIMES?! 31 of those bullets came from the SAME officer! How did your blood not boil when you heard the verdict? How can you not feel the pain deep within? I'll tell you why. Because America... to this day... does not value the life of a black man. The murder said it. So did the verdict. And quite frankly, so do you.
